About Thought Leadership Studio Podcast:
Strategic Thought Leadership Can Give Freedom
When you help people loosen the grip of previously held mental limitations with new, more empowering ways of thinking, you are expanding their worlds.
Inventing and leading people to new mental models - well-constructed Thought Leadership Positions - can also necessarily loosen the grip of less relevant, less helpful current mental models they might hold about your topic, field, product or service. Put more simply, you can show them how to see what you do, offer, or represent in a new light that changes their perspective.
So, Thought Leadership can serve as stepping stones away from the slippery footing of previously held limiting belief systems. As such, it can also create more freedom: freedom from thinking and acting as if that old model of the world was actually reality. When you help people loosen the grip of previously held mental limitations with new, more empowering ways of thinking, you are expanding their worlds.
Working with mental models and developing and sharing more agility and flexibility with them can be illuminating in that we are better able to see belief systems for what they are- habitual and maybe convenient maps of the world but not the world itself. The meal is not the menu. The map of Manhattan is not Manhattan. A map might hold just one rat, at most. A map that fully represents Manhattan would be as big as Manhattan itself. Yes, we need maps to get around - we might need to find a subway to the BB King Blues Club - but better maps, with more options make the journey more flexible and fun.
This greater freedom in thinking gives a little more unfiltered awareness of the present, a little more aliveness. It gives more freedom.
